What's on?

It has been an enjoyable and busy start to 2017 in the School Library. The Year 7 students have enjoyed coming to the Library before school, lunch-time and after school.

Which Club shall I join?

There are lots of clubs and activities in the Library this year. Come along at any stage and join in. The Homework & Study Skills Group is specifically to help Year 7s get organised for high school. They can get their diaries set up; learn helpful tips on their time management, what their learning style is and how to stay focussed at school.

The Robotics & Coding Club is very popular with 40 students attending and enjoying their first steps into the Coding World. Several students from 2016 have continued to attend and are very good mentors for the new members.

Welcome Year 7 students 2020

The beginning of a fabulous adventure - Lots of learning and fun.

Enjoy.

Leeming SHS Chess Club  WINS the State Tournament and is off to the Nationals.

Students displayed an amazing level of commitment to the team, concentration, strategic planning and were extremely competitive throughout the whole day

It was a nail biting finish with Leeming stabilizing to win with 28 ½  points, Wesley came in second with 26 ½ points and Perth Modern third with 23 ½ points.

Leeming’s Jack  won Top Individual player and Paddy was runner-up. We also had Amber come in as runner-up Top female player.

Congratulations to the whole team on a fantastic result – Including all the Chess Club members who didn’t make the Finals group but competed regularly against each other and also in the Regionals, which helped to improve everyone’s skills and to get the team to the State Finals

Good luck for the Nationals

BOOK WEEK, 2016
A fabulous week was had by all at Leeming SHS - everyone joining together to celebrate reading.
Various activities were run each lunchtime in the library - including making sparkling bookmarks and origami animals.
Thursday was a resounding success with students and staff dressing up as their favourite book characters.
HASS Department staff were very united with all their costumes reflecting courses studied throughout the year.
Ms Chick was a very suave Cat in the Hat and I dressed as Wenda - Where's Wally's girlfriend.

Leeming
goes to the Nationals!!
Leeming SHS Chess Club went to the National Interschool Chess Championships in Melbourne. It was the first time ever that Leeming has had a team at the Nationals and they excelled in their performance, behaviour and attitude.
They had two teams competing - The Open Secondary who drew for FOURTH place and the Middle Secondary who came in at a mighty FIFTH place
A magnificent performance by all , congratulations.

CHESS MANIA AT LEEMING SHS   LIBRARY !!

Congratulations to all competitors in the Leeming Senior High School Chess Teams who played in the Interschool Chess Tournament on Friday, 4th September.

The event took place in the library, with students from various schools in the metropolitan area involved in the Tournament.  We had two teams made up from 21 very excited students who competed brilliantly and won first and second place.

As the students came in first and second, this enables them to take extra players to the State Finals. They are the only team to enter a team of 12 players at Perth Modern School on the 25th September

The top players from both teams will compete with the remaining team members able to attend as spectators.

If the students are successful in their bid to play at the National Championships, these will be held in Melbourne at the end of November.

Congratulations again to all the competitors throughout the year
